BIODEGRADABLE, CARBON SEQUESTERING SHELTERS TO PROTECT SAPLINGS FOR REFORESTATION

Tree Pods are a biopolymer replacement for traditional plastic growing tubes which are relied on by forestry services and reforestation efforts to plant, grow, and protect saplings.

Composed of plant-based materials, Tree Pods are biodegradable and reduce the labor required to collect traditional growing tubes when they are no longer needed. Tree Pods are also naturally carbon sequestering, capable of releasing nutrients into agriculturally depleted soils where reforestation is most needed while protecting and facilitating growth.

Providing protection from the elements, grazing animals, and human activity, Tree Pods allow trees to grow securely. As the trees grow, Tree Pods break apart and degrade, allowing trees to develop unrestricted, a common problem with traditional growing tubes. As the trees grow, their Tree Pods fall into the soil, breaking down and releasing stored carbon, mirroring the planet’s natural carbon cycle.

Tree Pods are 3D printed, intended to be flat packed and folded or bent into shape at nurseries or other forestry service facilities.
