ADVANCED ROBOTIC FABRICATION 2017:
PLA SURFACES

Student work from our robotic fabrication course taught at SCI-Arc. Using a Staubli robotic arm in combination with an industrial PLA extruder, this group developed tool paths designed to produce complex surfaces that vary greatly in texture and density. Experimentation started by scripting robotic tool paths designed to stretch the hot extruded material and ended with a complex surface expressed by thick dense texture and aberrant strands.
